The jump mechanic
Time Tangle Update: The Art of the Jump
A subtle but game-changing addition to Time Tangle will make your time-bending adventures feel even more fluid and responsive. This new feature is coyote time – a feature that makes jumping feel more natural and forgiving.
If you have played the game and run on one of the rotating platforms, and lost your footing, pressed jump and you expect to have an air jump? It's frustrating when the game feels like it should have worked, but didn't. Every jump in Time Tangle should feel as intuitive as your instincts tell you it should be.
This is where coyote time comes in. With coyote time, Kayla now has a brief window after leaving a platform where she can still jump. It's just a fraction of a second – so quick you might not even notice it's there – but it makes all the difference in how the game feels. This means those heart-stopping moments where you're trying to make a precise jump between platforms feel more natural and less punishing. You can now time your jumps with even more confidence while solving the puzzles.
The best part? You don't have to learn anything new. There are no extra buttons to press or techniques to master. It just works the way you always felt it should. Jump when you think you should be able to jump, and Kayla will respond.
Fun fact, coyote time is literally named after Wiley coyote from "Roadrunner" which would continue to run on air until he looks down, at which point he falls.
This update is part of my ongoing commitment to making Time Tangle's movement system feel as smooth and satisfying as possible. Combined with the existing air jump mechanic, time-slowing projectiles, and the ability to grab boxes, the game should feel more rewarding.
I'd love to hear what you think about this update. How does it feel? Has it changed the way you approach jumping? Let me know in the comments below!
Stay tuned for more updates as I continue to polish and enhance the Time Tangle experience.
Time waits for no one – except maybe just a tiny bit for Kayla.
